Notice (amendment)
April 23, 2021
To all students
TUAT COVID-19 Response Headquarter
TUAT Measures in Response to a Third COVID-19 State of Emergency for Tokyo, etc.
On Friday, April 23, the Japanese government decided to declare a third "State of Emergency in Response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" for Tokyo; and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is expected to implement measures according to this declaration. These measures are expected to be effective from Sunday, April 25 to Tuesday, May 11. Since April, we have been holding face-to-face lectures as much as possible while incorporating online lectures in appropriate situations at TUAT to prevent infection spread and ensure students’ learning opportunities. We ask all students to continue to pay attention to the following points and take appropriate actions.
- From Monday, April 26, some lectures will be conducted online. For lectures that are conducted face-to-face, they will be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
- For those students who wish not to come to Tokyo or not to commute to university due to concerns on infection, we will take account of the situation if possible. Please contact the student committee or your supervisor/advising professor.
- At each campus, infection prevention measures are taken and we are working to create a safe environment where the students and researchers can pursue their study and research without much concern about the infection transmission, etc. Please cooperate in wearing masks, cleaning your hands and disinfecting your desks with alcohol, etc.
- As we will be frequently posting up-to-date information on how the lectures or events, etc. will be held at TUAT, please check the Google Classroom, Web Bulletin Board for students and TUAT website, etc.
- Laboratory activities can be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
- Take actions in your daily life to prevent the virus spread such as by taking care of your physical condition, hand washing and wearing masks. If you feel unwell, please consult a doctor, etc., and do not attend university nor go outside the house/residence.
- Keep social distancing and refrain from talking without a mask in various situations such as attending lectures, travelling around the campuses, having lunch and waiting for your next lecture.
- Please refrain from going out unless absolutely necessary and cooperate in preventing the spread of the virus. In particular, refrain from travelling across prefectures.
- Please do not organize or participate in extra-curricular activities except for the online ones regardless of whether the organizing group/activity has been approved or not; OR whether the activity would take place on campus or not. For the limited cases in which dealing with living creatures, etc. is required, upon the approval of the faculty member in charge of the activity, carry out the activity in the minimal time frame with the minimum number of people required.
- Please take great care and attention not to contract the virus from off-campus activities (including part-time jobs and volunteer activities).
- Refrain from gathering to eat or drink with others regardless of whether they belong to TUAT or not; OR whether it is in a restaurant or in someone’s private house/residence, etc.
- In general, students’ travels requested by a university in Japan or overseas (business trips, etc.) will not be approved.
- If you are confirmed with COVID-19, taken a PCR test or identified as a Close Contact to a COVID-19 positive individual, immediately report it to the University, etc. according to this Self-Quarantine Guide.
- Please pay close attention to the information and guidelines from the national and local governments and act according to the information, etc. provided by them.
- We will make a new announcement if there is any change to the current status such as the government extends or lifts the state of emergency.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to.
